Kudos! I don't offer comments very often but I must say that the way you've addressed this prompt is by far the most creative based on what I've read. I think inspiration is a funny little thing that comes in the most mundane as well as in the most spectacular, don't fret, it will find you.
Spring and her new life is just around the corner.
I think you'll have a lot of people who will sympathize and relate to your post! Especially the winter blues part...spring is almost here.
At least you found something in you to respond to the prompt. The feeling comes and goes with me, often I need something to jog me out of it, something in life that makes me think. Unfortunatley it can be hard to notice that thing.
I'd love to help, but... maybe you need to set the novel in the back closet and do something entirely different for a while...only thinking out loud here. :) good luck...spring must be near.
wow! --- this prompt seems to have given you great inspiration for a most creative post --- my own experience is that sometimes when i try to focus too much my block is proportionate, so i need to shift the focus and tuck away the THING in a box at the back of my mind, and then when i least expect it something, i don't know what, jump starts me again and i can't get it all down fast enough - it gets like a land slide of disconnected ideas that knit themselves together if i just go with the flow!!!

My muse seems to have flown south for the winter, also. When the weather is dreary, I'm often uninspired. And I have yet to write a response to MY OWN PROMPT for writing group tomorrow! Waiting for spring...
BTW, sometimes if I'm uninspired to write, I try another art, like baking or crafting, and that works to oil the rusty hinges of my brain. Also, just going somewhere out of my ordinary haunts often provides me with writing material. Coffee houses are a great place of inspiration for me. Hope this helps!

Welcome back to blogland--been missing you! Actually I think you came up with a very creative take on this week's prompt. I was going to make some suggestions for overcoming writer's block, but I see Sunshine has already beat me to it. Enjoyed your post.

I was feeling this melancholy blech last winter. It was one that seemed to drag on. This year is completely different.
My point? As writers we all go through periods of minimal inspiration or motivation. They pass just as yours will too.
